- Question: How many children can your facilities accommodated?
Answer: When renovations are completed, the home will be able to accommodated 40 children comfortably however we have room to expand and build to increase that number. - Question: Who takes care of the children?
Answer: The children will be cared for by Guatemalan Tia’s (aunties). - Question: Where do you get the children?
Answer: We have hired a Guatemalan social worker. They will work with the Guatemalan government and families to get the right children for the home. - Question: What are the children’s background?
Answer: The children that come to the home will be orphans and or neglected and abuse. - Question: Can the children’s be adopted?
Answer: No, because of two reasons. Reason number one is because of government policies. Reason two is we want the children that come to this home to feel like this is there home and they belong here. We want to create a stable environment that these children can succeed in and not feel the pressure that one day they will be taken away into the unknown. - Question: What kind of education will these children receive?
Answer: The children will attend school at a local church “Iglesia El Shaddai”. Its a fully credited grades K-12 academics. - Question: Do the children learn to speak English.
Answer: Yes, they will take English at school. - Question: Who owns the home?
Answer: The home is being paid for by Third Day Worship Centre located in Kingston, Ontario Canada. Its final cost is $270,000 USD. - Question: Can we sponsor a child?
Answer: Yes! We are currently working on the development of personal child sponsorship. - Question: In what ways can I/we help?
Answer: Prayerful; we need the help and covering of the Holy Spirt, financial support either special one time or monthly sponsorship, and hands on. For more information on mission trips click here. - Question: What is your personal budget?
Answer: $1,300 monthly. It covers our housing, food, phone, internet, and flights home to renew our visas. - Question: What is the monthly budget of the home?
Answer: As of September 2010 the monthly budget is $10,468.50 USD. This doesn’t include renovations and special projects. - Question: How fast will the home grow?
Answer: The home will only grow as fast as the financial support becomes available. We want to provide the best possible care to each child. This home is built on quality, not quantity. - Question: What are Dan & Ashley’s responsibilities?
Answer: To hire and manage staff, assets, banking, and finances, work with short term mission teams and interns, build relationships with the local churches and Guatemalan government, and to oversee the children’s nutrition, medical, dental, care-giving, education, discipline, & legal affairs. - Question: I am a individual and or church and we want to help and be partnered with you. What will that look like?
Answer: Partnership is a two way relationship. We will accept all the help we can get to make this home a success and unity is the key. We will and are in contact with every one of our individual and church sponsors. We are open to conversation at anytime. We love updating everyone either personally through email, instant chat, and phone, or through our website and email newsletters that are updated weekly. We are also creating personalized videos for churches and youth groups to keep there congregation and or group updated.
